Bhavana's several Malayalam language films such as Youth Festival and Police were dubbed into Tamil prior to her debut in Tamil cinema. But like many dubbed films, they flopped leaving Bhavana without a solid platform to start with. Her debut Tamil movie, Chithiram Pesuthadi opposite another newcomer, Narain was released in early 2006 but was initially a flop and didn't run for even two weeks. However, after the audio launch that happened after the film's release, the film was back in the theatres. The film became a huge success and ran for over 100 days, primarily due to Gaana Ulaganathan's song in the film. Bhavana then became a sought after heroine in Tamil film industry and she went on a signing spree, choosing to act with young heroes. But her next film Kizhakku Kadalkarai Salai, released in late 2006 did not perform well at box office though there were high expectations. Her most successful movie in 2006 was Veyil opposite Bharath released in December 2006.
In 2007, her first release was Deepavali opposite Jayam Ravi in February which got her rave reviews and became a hit. Another of her release is Koodal Nagar, which she paired again with Bharath, sharing frames withSandhya. Her other projects are Arya opposite Madhavan, Rameswaram with Jeeva and Vaazhthukal again with Madhavan.
