Lorena Rojas in India to promote Second Chance

Lorena Rojas, born Seydi Lorena Rojas Gonzalez on 10 February 1972, is a Mexican actress and singer. She features in the Columbian show, “Second Chance” that comes on Firangi Channel in India. She was in Mumbai last week. She plays the conniving woman Isabella in Second Chance. She said this was her first visit to India and she heard a few Bollywood songs while she was in Mumbai.

Lorena Rojas had never heard a Bollywood song before her visit to India last week. But now she says she enjoys them for their "contagious" effect. Lorena Rojas said Bollywood songs are very rhythmic and they have a very contagious style of singing.

Lorena Rojas regretted a visit the Taj Mahal in Agra might not be possible due to her tight schedule. "The principal reason I am here is for work. I have just one day free now. I am considering taking a three-hour train to the Taj Mahal, but it might just be too hectic. I still have to discuss it with my mother," she had explained while she was in Delhi on Tuesday. She left India on Thursday and she hopes to come back soon for a vacation.

Rojas added that her visits to the Gateway of India and Marine Drive in Mumbai had been "magical". "I also went to the market and bought myself a small elephant, a pashmina shawl and a bag," Rojas, who sings for television shows and has also started writing lyrics, mentioned in an excited tone.

Lorena Rojas said that people in her country are still unfamiliar with Hindi film stars. "Just like people here in India don't know much about Mexican actors, we don't know about Bollywood. We know a bit about Hollywood though." She gave a fine example of her statement when she could not recognize superstar Shah Rukh Khan on being shown his picture on a DVD cover of Farah Khan's “Om Shanti Om”.

Lorena Rojas began her career in 1990 participating in the soap opera Alcanzar Una Estrella. After its success, she recorded a sequel Alcanzar Una Estrella II in 1991. Between 1992 and 1997 she starred in several Televisa productions, including Buscando El Paraiso, Bajo Un Mismo Rostro and El Alma No Tiene Color, until she signed to TV Azteca in 1998.

2001 saw the release of Lorena Rojas's debut music album as a singer, “Como Yo No Hay Ninguna”, recording songs by legendary songwriter/producer Richard Daniel Roman. In 2003 Rojas signed to Telemundo, later taping in that same year the soap opera Ladrón De Corazones besides Manolo Cardona. In 2005, she starred in her most acclaimed soap opera El Cuero del deseo, co-starring Andres Garcia, Mario Cimarro, Erick Elias and Sonia Noemí, among others, which was an international success, broadcast by Telemundo NBC. In 2006 she released her second album Deseo.
